Francisco Aguayo (1972 ) is an independent economist based in Mexico City. Studied Economics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and a PhD in Economics of Innovation the Maastricht Economic and Social Research and Training Centre on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) in Maastricht, the Netherlands. He was Program Researcher at the Science, Technology, and Development Program at El Colegio de México from 1998 to 2010. He has published several articles on sustainable development, industrial organization, and natural resource-based industries. He was an Expert Reviewer in the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 2006 and a Lead Author in the Global Energy Assessment (Cambridge University Press, 2012). He has been a consultant for the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). He is currently the Editor of the Economic Perspectives on Global Sustainability paper series of the Theme on the Environment, Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment (TEMTI) of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). He is a member of the World Economics Association.
